Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  6. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom, followed by a layer of lasagna noodles. Next, spread a layer of the ricotta mixture and top with mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, finishing with a layer of noodles, sauce, and cheese.
  7. Bake the lasagna for 45 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

  • For a vegetarian option, replace the ground beef with your choice of vegetables.
